We are elated to announce that Wallie’s Gals is an Official Selection of the Valkyrie International Film Festival! It’s a festival founded by Tamar Gonzalez Lamberson and her daughter, Kaelin Lamberson, and is scheduled to run during Women’s History Month (March) of each year. All selected films are directed by women.
They chose the name “Valkyrie International Film Festival” as their name because the Valkyries of Norse mythology were fierce warriors who symbolized strength and empowerment. They view every female director as a Valkyrie, and every woman as a Valkyrie: a force to be reckoned with that refuses to be silenced.
In its second year, this year’s festival will be take place from March 21st to 25th in Amherst, NY, a suburb of Buffalo. Mary C. Ferrara, the creator of Wallie’s Gals, will be in attendance.
UPDATE on 3/29/2024: Wallie’s Gals was nominated for Best Comedy and screened in the 3:45pm block on Saturday, March 23rd. It was shown on a big screen at the The Screening Room Cinema & Arts Cafe in Buffalo. There was quite a turnout! Congrats to all the nominees and winners of the 2024 Valkyrie International Film Festival!
